Couples dance for Priests medical scheme

The fundraising committee of Archdiocese of Blantyre organized a valentine dinner and dance on 15th February, 2019, held at Mount Soche hotel in Blantyre to mobilize financial resources for Catholic priests’ medical scheme.

Speaking at the event, George Yiannakis who was the guest of honor said couples needed to celebrate love in a special way by attending the dinner and dance that had a purpose of generating money for hospital bills for priests in the Archdiocese of Blantyre.

Yiannakis further applauded the fundraising committee for the dinner and dinner that is to help priests with proper medical care when they are sick.

 

“Why do we need to support priests? - we need healthy priests because they lead us to go to heaven where we shall meet God” said Yiannakis.

Concurring with Yiannakis, His Grace Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa of the Archdiocese of Blantyre expressed a need to have support from such initiative as one way of ensuring healthy priests in the Archdiocese.

“Our coffers cannot support all of them with proper medical scheme so invite you to join the noble cause” said Msusa.

Estimates show that the dinner and dance is expected to boost Priests medical scheme in the archdiocese of Blantyre with MK23 million.

The archdiocese of Blantyre of has ninety priests both diocesans and religious who are serving in different institutions and parishes.

It has over forty Catholic Parishes covering over five districts in the Southern region of Malawi with eight deaneries.

Archdiocese of Blantyre is the first Archdiocese in Malawi before the diocese of Lilongwe was declared to be second Archdiocese in the country.
