Archdiocese of Blantyre grows bigger with two more parishes


Most Rev Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa has created two more parishes in the Archdiocese of Blantyre to meet pastoral needs and care of Christians in the Archdiocese.

Namame Church in Blantyre and Mithungu Church in Phalombe districts have added up the total number of Parishes in the Archdiocese of Blantyre to 43.


In a letter signed by His Grace Archbishop Msusa, which has been addressed to priests, religious, seminarians and the laity in the Archdiocese of Blantyre, the new parishes signifies growth of the local church in Malawi.

“I have already appointed Rev Frs James khembo and Lazarus Zulani as Parish Priests for Namame and Mithungu Catholic Parishes respectively” reads part of letter.

Then, Namame Catholic Parish was under Limbe Our Lady Queen of All Hearts, Limbe Cathedral and Mithungu Parish was under, The Most Pure Heart of Mary in Phalombe.


Archdiocese of Blantyre is one the first Archdiocese in Malawi and it covers six districts in the Southern part of the country.
